Lawyers of the accused once again postponed the hearing in the case of the rape of a 14-year-old girl from Transcarpathia

On December 22, a hearing was held in the case of the rape of a 14-year-old girl from Volovets, but it was postponed again.
This was reported by the lawyer of the Association of Women Lawyers of Ukraine “Yurferm” Marta Zmysla.
She said that first there was a hearing of one of the petitions in this case – 4 lawyers of the accused participated in it.
But at a certain point in the hearing, two representatives said they had run out of power. Because of this, they cannot represent the prosecution and asked to leave the hall.

“No steps were taken to find another attorney, negotiate or renegotiate, anything. They knew for sure that their powers were running out, and they came to the meeting. This is a strategy to delay the proceedings. In the future, the victim is forced to go through the entire traumatic experience of this trial, in which she is constantly mentally disturbed“, Marta Zmysla notes.
After that, two lawyers representing the offenders asked the judge for a break. And after the resumption of the session, they said that they would look for another lawyer to protect the interests of their clients, and asked to postpone the court session.
The court scheduled the next hearing for January 8, 2024.
We will remind you that this is not the first delay in the case after the appeal. In the fall, the prosecution several times disrupted the hearing due to a motion to impeach the judge – they even demanded the removal of the judge who was considering the impeachment of his colleague.
