Kyiv citizens should return to wearing masks in crowded places – KMDA

Kyivans are recommended to return to the mask regime in crowded places.

This should reduce the risk of infection with COVID-19, the Kyiv City State Administration reported.

As noted, for several weeks, many countries have recorded an increase in the number of respiratory diseases caused by COVID-19, influenza and other pathogens.

Because of this, the head of the World Health Organization called on people to observe the mask regime and social distance again.

“In Kyiv, this issue is also relevant. After all, new cases of coronavirus disease are recorded every week. Among the hospitalized patients, there are also serious patients.” – said Mykola Povoroznyk, First Deputy Chairman of the KMDA.

He emphasized that in such conditions, the people of Kyiv should return to the mask regime in places where people gather.

“First of all, it is about your health, which must be protected. In particular, if your condition worsens and the first symptoms of the disease appear, you should definitely contact your family doctor and, if necessary, as determined by the doctor, get tested for COVID-19 in a timely manner” , Povoroznyk remarked.

As a reminder, 17 strains of the SARS-CoV-2 virus – different subvariants of the “Omicron” strain – are currently circulating in Ukraine.

Since October, 1.9 million people have fallen ill with acute respiratory viral infections (ARVI), flu and COVID-19 in Ukraine, 56% of them are children.
