“Marriage boom”: in which regions Ukrainians most often got married during the war

During the full-scale invasion, Ukraine recorded 4% more marriages than in 2021. Their number increased for the first time in the last 3 years, Opendatabot reports. “A real marriage boom took place in the Kirovohrad (6,473) and Poltava (10,610) regions. Over the year, the number of newly formed families there increased by 1.6 and 1.5 times, respectively,” the company reported. In addition, in 2022, 40% of divorces were registered – this is the lowest rate in the last 9 years. Ukrainians were also 2.6 times less likely to enter into a marriage contract last year compared to 2021. Only 7 families out of 1,000 signed a contract last year. And in 2021, the percentage of couples who signed a marriage contract was 2%.
