The Council supported the bill on additional benefits for military personnel – News

The Verkhovna Rada adopted a draft law that provides for the introduction of additional benefits for military personnel.

The Ministry of Defense called this decision the first step on the way to strengthening the social protection of servicemen

271 People’s Deputies voted for the draft law “On Amendments to Certain Laws of Ukraine Regarding Ensuring the Rights of Military and Policemen to Social Protection.”

The norms of the draft law contain a number of benefits for military personnel, in particular:

• they are given the opportunity to receive a one-time leave upon the birth of a child with the preservation of financial support in full;
• for wounded servicemen, if necessary, it is possible to receive treatment abroad for more than four months based on the decision of the VLK;
• norms concerning the prevention of violations related to discrimination on the basis of gender or sexual harassment;
• provision of personnel in the chaplaincy service (permission to hire civilians as military chaplains was granted).

The norms of the draft law also introduce a mandatory check of the quality of humanitarian aid, in particular that provided to the Defense Forces.

Liability was also established for the lack of control over the quality of goods (items) of humanitarian aid.

We will remind, servicemen receive additional payments when performing combat missions. They are also provided if a serviceman is injured during service.
