A 10-year-old boy drowned in a reservoir in Kyiv region. The tragedy happened in Bilotserkivskyi district, said Andriy Nebytov, head of the Main Department of the National Police of the Kyiv region. On June 15, the fifth-grader went fishing with his friends. The boy tried to swim across the river, but lost strength and went to the bottom. For almost an hour, doctors and police officers performed resuscitation measures to save the child. However, the boy did not survive. A 10-year-old boy drowned in a reservoir in the Kyiv region. “We call on parents to talk to their children about the dangers of swimming without adult supervision,” says Andriy Nebytov. Earlier, the State Emergency Service reported that since the beginning of 2023, 332 people have died in the reservoirs of Ukraine, 20 of them are children. Rescuers call on parents to pay attention to the prohibitions of local authorities on swimming in water bodies, which, in particular, may be contaminated with explosive objects as a result of the war. The State Emergency Service also reminds the rules of safe behavior on and near water, namely not to dive in shallow water and in unfamiliar places and not to swim far from the shore.
