A Chinese citizen is accused of stealing about 23 thousand dollars during a flight from Vietnam to Singapore.

According to CNN, the incident happened on December 16 on board the budget airline Scoot, which is part of Singapore Airlines.

According to the indictment, 52-year-old Zhang Xuqiang allegedly robbed three passengers:

  • took 3 million Vietnamese dong (US$123) from the backpack of the first;
  • stole 510 million Vietnamese dong ($20,950) and 50 Singapore dollars ($38) from the bag of the second;
  • took US$1,000 and SGD 930 (US$700) from an envelope in the bag of the third.

“One of the passengers warned the crew about a possible theft that happened in the cabin of the plane. The crew called the airport police. The law enforcement officers separately removed the passengers from the plane, who will be investigated, and the rest of the people disembarked as usual.” – said the representative of the airline.

The suspect was taken into custody for further investigation. If found guilty of theft, he could face up to three years in prison, a fine, or both.

This is not the first such case. In October 2023, the Hong Kong police exposed a criminal syndicate that stole passengers’ credit cards.

We will remind, in the USA, an emergency plane was landed because of a horse that ran into the cabin.
