A Chinese woman bequeathed $2.8 million to her dogs and cats because her own children “neglect” her
A resident of the Chinese city of Shanghai bequeathed all her fortune (almost $2.8 million) to her pets, as her three children do not visit their mother.
According to the will, after the woman’s death, the money will be left to the dogs and cats, the South China Morning Post reports.
When a woman surnamed Liu grew old and sick, her three children stopped visiting her and neglected communication. And recently, their contacts have generally come to naught.
According to the Chinese woman, her pets – cats and dogs – were always by her side. Therefore, after the woman’s death, the money will be spent on the care of her pets and their descendants.

Since it is illegal to leave money to animals in China, the funds will be managed by a local veterinary clinic, which will take in the four-legged heirs.
“We told Aunt Liu that if her children change their attitude towards her, she can always change her will.”– said Chen Kai, an employee of the Center for the Registration of Wills in Beijing.
