A fortune teller cheated the head of a private medical center out of $300,000

A fortune teller from Ternopil region deceived the management of a private medical center in Chernivtsi. His manager turned to her for help to close the criminal case on the appropriation of UAH 8 million from the National Health Service of Ukraine, writes the Head of the National Police in the Chernivtsi region. According to the sources of the Zaxid.net publication, it is about the rehabilitation institution “Mednean”. Its leaders are suspected of misappropriating more than 8 million of the National Health Service’s funds. They should be directed to the treatment and rehabilitation of patients. Currently, several cases on this matter are being heard in the Shevchenkiv District Court of Chernivtsi. On July 14, the head of the medical center appealed to the law enforcement officers with a statement that he had been defrauded by a fortune teller of $300,000. He found the woman through an ad. She was supposed to “magically help” solve the issue of closing the criminal proceedings where he and his employees are suspected of conspiring with family doctors. Photo: National Police According to the contract signed by “Mednean” with the NHSHU, the private medical center was supposed to provide rehabilitation services for patients – in particular, neuropathologists and traumatologists. But only a part of those in need received these services. The rest was made fictitiously. It is noted that for a fee from the head of the medical center, the doctors entered 417 fictitious referrals into the e-Health unified database. To close the proceedings, the director needed a fortune teller. In addition to her own offered services, she recommended contacting a lawyer. For $10,000, the man had to bribe the law enforcement officers so that the director’s wife would not be touched. “During pre-trial investigations, the police established that the director of the medical center in the city of Chernivtsi approached a 48-year-old resident of Ternopil Oblast. The woman told the man that she had acquaintances among quite influential people in the state, who would be able to help avoid the negative consequences associated with criminal proceedings, regarding the illegal activity of him and the officials of the medical institution” – reported in the National Police Department in Chernivtsi region. On July 10, a man from Kyiv was detained while receiving $10,000 by employees of the investigative department and criminal investigation with the support of special forces. Both persons involved have already been informed of suspicions of committing offenses. The woman is suspected of having committed a crime provided for in Part 4 of Article 190 (Fraud), and the husband – Part 4 of Art. 27 (Types of accomplices) and Part 3 of Art. 369 (Offer, promise or provision of an illegal benefit to an official) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
