A mother and her young son, who were deported to Russia, were returned to Ukraine. During the attempt to cross the Russian-Ukrainian border, the Russian side did not let the family through several times, reports Ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets. In May of this year, a family that was illegally deported to Russia appealed to the Ombudsman’s office with a request to help them return to Ukraine. According to the ombudsman, before the start of the full-scale war, the family lived in the village of Liptsi in Kharkiv Oblast. The Office of the Ombudsman contacted the State Migration Service of Ukraine so that the family could obtain a certificate for returning to Ukraine. The mother and child were escorted to the territory of Russia by an organization dealing with the return of deported persons. “At the same time, having all the necessary documents, the Russian side did not let the mother and her young son through the border several times. No explanations were given,” noted Dmytro Lubinets. The family crossed the Ukrainian border from the Russian side on June 18. Now they are in Kharkiv.
