A new educational program will appear in vocational schools – “Civil drone operator”

This year, seven vocational and technical schools of Ukraine will introduce a new educational program – “Operator of civil drones”.
As reported Minister of Digital Transformation of Ukraine Mykhailo Fedorov, it will be possible to learn a new profession in educational institutions of Lviv, Dnipropetrovsk, Kyiv, Kirovohrad, Mykolaiv, Sumy and Chernihiv regions.
Schools have already received 28 drones, and their teachers have mastered theoretical and practical programs, so they are ready to share their knowledge with students.
“Being able to fly a civilian drone is extremely important for Ukraine today. These drones are used in seeding, rescue operations, demining, they help assess damage from combat operations, and journalists use them to document war“, Fedorov noted.
The minister also said that work on this program was started in 2022. It is implemented jointly with the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine and the European Union.
During this time, it was possible to create training programs for initial professional training, course training and group work.
“Our goal for 2024 is to improve drone control training in vocational schools where such programs already exist, as well as to expand the network of institutions that offer such training.
In addition, an important task is the approval of the professional educational standard, the involvement of business and local managers in this process.” — noted Minister of Education and Science Oksen Lisovyi.
Currently, you can learn to fly a drone on an additional course. However, the MES plans to develop an educational standard and introduce an appropriate licensing system in vocational schools.
After completing their studies, students will receive an official document on state-standard education in their specialty “Operator of civil drones”.
We will remind, the Ministry of Health introduced a new specialty – medical universities will train prosthetists-orthetists.
