In Kyiv, on Teremky, a shelter for cats “Kotobaza” was set on fire at night. Most of the animals that were in it died. Nataliya, a representative of the shelter, reported that only one of the seven kittens that were brought to one of the vet clinics survived. The shelter is sure that the event was not accidental, because the fire spread very quickly. In addition, conflicts with local residents repeatedly arose. Only on September 20, they broke into the base and stole plates for cats, a new broom and a high scoop. “Tell me, friends, can such a deliberate arson of animals happen in a European country? I have been taking care of homeless animals for almost thirty years?” – asks Natalia indignantly. According to Natalya, when the firemen extinguished the flames, the investigative team examined the fire, then the caring local residents disassembled the surviving kittens. Kyiv Animal Rescue Group also tried to help at the scene. The shelter told “Ukrainian Pravda. Life” that mostly small kittens were affected. Adult cats are used to coming to the base for feeding at a certain time, then they leave it. Despite the tragedy, the shelter will continue to help the surviving animals. The shelter also reported that relevant evidence about the incident was handed over to the police. Earlier, we talked about how teenagers in Transcarpathia bullied kittens.
