Unfortunately, there were no appeals to our Museum. We learned about the dismantling and cutting of the plane from our fan on the morning of Monday, March 27,” – the museum said in a statement. It was also noted there that the dismantled MiG-17 aircraft monument represents a historical value. “We are always happy to receive any aviation artifacts, and even more so whole airplanes. Such monuments, even in a cut state, are one of the last sources of components for the restoration of airplanes in our collection,” the museum added. In a comment to TSN.ua, Shlapak added that the school could become a target for the Russians because of the model of the plane: “This plane was not on anyone’s balance sheet. They demanded money for its dismantling, so people were found who dismantled it for free. Now it is in its place there will be a playground, which is needed for the elementary school of this educational institution. The plane was dismantled because it was a symbol of the Soviet era. In addition, during the war, the headmistress of the school constantly raised the issue of its dismantling. The school became a living target, because it is a model of a real plane.
