In the sky above Kyiv on August 3, photographer Andrii Yakobchuk captured a unique astronomical phenomenon – the supermoon. “Today there is an incredible moon in the sky,” the man described what he saw. In the comment “UP. Life”, the photographer said that he had long dreamed of photographing the moon, but managed to capture it for the first time. “On August 3, the moon was close and there were no clouds. I was very impressed by it, so I went out at night and “shot” directly at it,” the photographer said. Aljazeera reports that the supermoon can be observed in the sky at four different times during the year. At these moments, Earth’s largest satellite appears 14% larger and 30% brighter than usual. In 2023, two of these periods fall in August. The first supermoon this year took place on July 2-3, when the Moon approached the Earth by 362,000 km. On the first day of August, during the second supermoon, the satellite came within 357,500 km of our planet. The following phenomena are expected at the end of the month – August 30-31, as well as September 28-29. We previously reported that astrophotographers captured the green comet in different parts of the world as it flew over the Earth.
