Svyatoslav Romanchuk, a well-known speleologist, engineer and animal rescuer with the call sign “Nutry”, who joined the army from the beginning of the full-scale war, died at the front.

Svyatoslav died on December 28 from a life-threatening injury. A fragment from the projectile pierced the carotid artery.

The tragic news was reported by the soldier’s wife, Anna Danylenko.

On December 30, she was supposed to go to Svyatoslav to celebrate the New Year together.

“My Slava was killed. Svyatoslav Romanchuk died on December 28, 2023 at night in the positions on the Lymansky direction.

It has been at zero for the last 3 months. The last meeting was short, he was suddenly taken out of bed in the middle of the night and taken to the position, because there was no one to replace the others.” – the woman wrote.

Svyatoslav Romanchuk was a talented engineer, inventor, speleologist, digger

Anna recalls that “magic” began with her lover from the first touch:

“I finally found my husband who accepted me, with whom my values coincided, and I constantly wanted to joke and laugh. I missed his hugs, tender, warm, lulling, all this time.”.

On February 24, 2022, Svyatoslav returned from a business trip and went to the military to defend the country.

In September, “Nutry” came to Kyiv for his birthday. On September 25, he married his beloved, and then went to the front again.

Anna remembers that she cried at the wedding because she had to say goodbye to her husband again.

“Slava was a talented engineer who could figure everything out, with hands from the right place. And a very sharp inquisitive mind. A bit adventurous.

My kitty was very tired and focused when we saw each other. He did everything to survive and save his own. I was happy when I managed to work effectively.

But he complained that his talents are not being used to their full potential. Because putting an engineer in a trench is the same as driving a nail with a vase…My beloved kitty, I don’t want to believe it. There was a little bit left before the exit. Heroes die…” Anna wrote.

“Nutry” had many talents. He was an experienced engineer, inventor and digger (he liked to travel through artificial dungeons). He drove and repaired cars. Conducted hikes, caving expeditions and digging competitions.

Memories of Svyatoslav were shared by his colleague Mykhailo Storozhuk, animal rescuer and head of the Kyiv Animal Rescue Group.

“He stood at the origins of the Animal Rescue Team back in 2014-2015. And a few years before animal rescue became a specialty, he rescued a beaver from a sewer…

Once we invented a method of pulling a cat from a pole together, and then we went to hold underground competitions. Climbed trees and helped in various high-altitude rescue operations…

Everyone always considered him a very lucky person, he repeatedly got out of the most difficult adventures“, – he described his friend.

The approximate date of the hero’s funeral is January 3, but the family will announce the exact time and place later.

Anyone can financially support Svyatoslav’s family using the details posted by the hero’s wife on Facebook.
