Academic responsibility of collaborators. Scientists are outraged by the photo of the traitorous professor Yevgenia Bilchenko

Also, in one of the posts, she actually admits that she “led an underground struggle against Ukraine”:

“What did I do for ‘these nine years’? I did things that now everyone is shitting on, and, frankly, me too. Three of them were crazy, the rest six led an underground struggle against Ukraine, in conditions of complete isolation, without support, without an injection of glory and honors, despite everything, thank God, they worked for treason, which is what I wish for others. Well, what else can I say… I serve the people of Russia.”

Bilchenko also said that she has been living in Russia for the second year and “doesn’t regret anything.”

It should be noted that the ex-teacher of the capital university showed an anti-Ukrainian position even before the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation. In particular, at the beginning of 2021, a professor of cultural studies called Ukraine “an American colony”.

She also stated that the law “On ensuring the functioning of the Ukrainian language as a state” is a “swollen lymph node in a sick body.” The university called such statements unacceptable. Within weeks, she was suspended from teaching and her lectures were scrutinized, which were found to be “riddled with hate speech”.

Ukrainian scientists reacted to Bilchenko’s photo. In particular, the coordinator of the anti-plagiarism initiative “Dysergate” Svitlana Vovk proposes to deprive Bilchenko of scientific degrees and titles, as well as to make changes to the project “On academic integrity” regarding the academic responsibility of collaborators.

“The main issue is Bilchenko’s responsibility for collaborationism, in particular, to the scientific and educational community“, she notes.

Artist Lesya Roy drew attention to the fact that a jacket with a Ukrainian pixel can be seen in the corner of that photo and assumed that Bilchenko was “scrolling through the fields, looking for mines.”

Film critic Igor Kromph is of the opinion that the trial of the collaborator will not have the expected effect.

“But whose trial I would like to see (I’m ready to pay for it immediately) is all these functionaries-professors from my alma mater, who knew perfectly well that Yevgenia Vitalyivna is friends with Major “special forces of the DNR” Zakhar Prilepin and calls his “new Bernard Shaw”. Volunteer and art history candidate Olga Krychynska previously also claimed that the university hushed up the collaborative activities of her former teacher.

“I can imagine how many such Yevgenys are still sitting in the walls of Ukrainian universities”, – she added.
