An 18-year-old father fatally shot his 2-month-old daughter in the Belotserkiv district of Kyiv region because she was crying.
The boy faces up to 10 years in prison, the Kyiv Regional Prosecutor’s Office reports.
As the law enforcement officers found out, the young father stayed at home with his daughter, but when the girl started fussing, it annoyed him.
“In order to “pacify” the child, the man approached her stroller and hit her on the head. Later, the child stopped showing signs of life.” – the prosecutor’s office says.

They note that when doctors and law enforcement officers arrived at the scene, the grieving father tried to mislead the investigation by blaming the child’s death on the doctors who had treated her for pneumonia the day before.
Forensic medical examination confirmed that the girl’s death occurred as a result of a closed craniocerebral injury, law enforcement officers say.
The boy was charged with intentional grievous bodily harm (Part 2, Article 121 of the Criminal Code).
The sanction of the article provides for punishment in the form of deprivation of liberty for a term of 7 to 10 years.
