An elephant attacked a group of tourists in the Kafue National Park in northern Africa. An 80-year-old American woman died from her injuries.

As informs The Telegraph that the incident happened during a photo tour in the National Park. An adult elephant approached the car with six tourists. Later, he started chasing the car, which was speeding away. At some point, the animal overtook the car and overturned it twice.

An 80-year-old tourist from the United States, whose name has not been released, later died of her injuries. Another tourist is in the hospital. Other members of the group were treated on the spot.

The chief executive officer of Wilderness Zambia, which organized the group’s vacation, explained that the tragic meeting with the elephant could not be avoided due to the peculiarity of the terrain.

“All of our guides are extremely well trained and experienced, but unfortunately in this case the terrain and vegetation were such that the guide’s route was blocked and he was unable to move the vehicle out of harm’s way quickly enough.” – he noted.
