The dumping of refractory structural elements of the ship in the “spaceship graveyard” in the non-navigable part of the Pacific Ocean is a common practice for disposable cargo ships that depart from the ISS. As noted in Space.com, the Russian spaceship “Progress” always burns up in the atmosphere after completing the task.
