An online psychological support chat for men has started working in Ukraine: how to use it

The United Nations Population Fund in Ukraine (UNFPA) has launched an anonymous free 24-hour online psychological support chat for men.

As reported by the fund, men can receive support from qualified psychologists with many years of experience in text format through a chat in Telegram, Viber or on the Support Line website.

“Psychological support in the format of online communication should help men to stabilize their emotional state, find internal resources to get out of difficult situations and realize problematic aspects of behavior.” – the UN Foundation explains.

According to the terms of the program, each man can consult in the chat once a day. The duration of the consultation is up to 90 minutes. You can apply for any issues that cause stress: problems at work or in a relationship, distress due to war, difficulties with anger control, etc.

As noted by UNFPA, during a full-scale war, the number of stressful situations increases, so timely resolution of the problem and overcoming psychological stress are vital.

“Men in Ukraine often live with the idea that they have to solve their problems on their own. Because of this, they do not seek professional help.” – says Alyona Zubchenko, program manager of UNFPA.

She cited the results of a survey that the Foundation conducted among men in the summer of 2022. At that time, 90% of the respondents indicated that they had no experience of applying for any professional psychological support.

“At the same time, almost every third Ukrainian is in a state of significant distress, in which a person is unable to adapt to stressful situations and their consequences.” – says Alyona Zubchenko.

We will remind you that in October 2022, UNFPA launched a free, anonymous and 24-hour psychological support line for men at number 2345. In more than a year of operation, specialists have already received more than 9,200 calls.
