The European Film Academy named the winners of this year’s award – European Film Awards 2023. Two Ukrainian films also applied for the “European Oscar”, but neither received an award.

It became the film of the year “Anatomy of a Fall” French director Justine Trierit is reported on the website of the film academy.

The same tape won several more awards: for Best Director, Best Screenplay and Best Editing, and the leading actress Sandra Guller became the best actress.

“Anatomy of a Fall” tells the story of a writer who is suspected of murdering her own husband. She denies guilt, but even her son has doubts about his mother’s innocence. The best film of the year, according to the European Film Academy, will be available in Ukrainian cinemas from December 14.

This year, two Ukrainian films are noir detective films “La Palisade” directed by Philip Sotnychenko and a documentary film jointly produced “Home” directed by Hanna Badziaka and Aleksandar Michalkovich – were among the nominees of the European Film Awards. However, none of them were noted by European film critics.

The producer was awarded the prize for production achievements in jointly produced films Ulyan Kim. Among other things, she is one of the film producers “Mariupolis” and “Mariupolis 2” the Lithuanian director Mantas Kvedaravicius, who was killed by the Russians last year. Last year, the tape “Mariupolis 2” won an award in the Best Documentary category.
