In Kharkiv Oblast, the owner of a farm left for Russia, leaving 28 horses under fire and without food. Animal rights activists filed a police report against him for animal cruelty.

This was reported in UAnimals.

The equestrian complex is constantly being shelled by the Russians, as a result of which a 5-month-old foal has already died, and a mare has been injured. Currently, the animals are taken care of by local law enforcement officers and Oleksiy is the only groom who remained on the farm. He has been working here for 12 years, animal rights activists say.

I couldn’t leave the animals to die, but it’s hard to give advice myself.” shares Oleksiy.

He adds that local law enforcement officers help to look after the animals. They negotiate with farmers and volunteers about food for horses: hay, oats, salt.

But there is still a lack of food. As Oleksiy says, sometimes animals starve for two days in a row. Also, there is no firewood on the farm to heat the premises, so even the drinking water freezes in the cold.

By law, the police have the right to at least temporarily impound the animals until the court makes a final decision in the case. Then the UAnimals team will be able to get the horses out of the shelling“, animal rights activists say.

They call on the police to consider their application as soon as possible and help save horses from war and cruelty.

It will be recalled that 1,600 bats were thrown from the balcony of the eighth floor in Poltava. Some of them were saved.
