“Another Franko” – a biopic about the son of Ivan Franko – watch the trailer

The trailer of the biographical drama was presented “Another Franco”, dedicated to Ivan Franko’s son Peter. The tape was supposed to be released in 2020, but will reach the big screens only on February 8, 2024.

The film tells about the life of Pyotr Franko, one of the founders of the Plast organization, a pilot, the founder of aviation in the Galician army, a scientist with 36 scientific patents for inventions, a deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of the Ukrainian SSR. He was repressed by the Soviet authorities, deported to Siberia, and died on the way under mysterious circumstances.

“Another Franko” is the director’s feature-length debut Ihor Visnevskyi.
He played the main role in the film Vyacheslav Dovzhenko – laureate of the “Golden Dzyga” and “Kinokol” awards for his role in the film “Cyborgs”. “Peter Franko – this is a historical figure about whom we know little… This is a person with a pile of secrets and secrets in his biography. But in our film, something else is much more important. Imagine if he finds out that today he will either be sent to Siberia or simply killed. He has only one day left to spend with his family. How will he feel?” – said Dovzhenko about his character.

Actor and director Akhtem Seitablaev (“Khaitarma”, “Cyborgs”, “Home”) played a former friend of Peter, who chooses a different political path at the beginning of the Soviet occupation of Ukraine. The wife of Peter Franko is played by the actress of the Ivano-Frankivsk Drama Theater and the star of the film “Glare” Valentina Vasyanovicha Nadia Levchenko. The daughter of the main character was embodied on the screen by the star of the Ukrainian series “School” Iryna Kudashova.

While working on the tape, the team consulted with Peter Franko’s family and the staff of the Franko House memorial museum. Filming took place in Lviv’s Stryi Park and the “Frank House” museum. Also specially created for the film was a replica of the First World War Albatross plane with the flight number LVGC-15960 – Petro Franko himself flew on it.
