Young people in Ukraine aged 14 to 34 estimate their level of anxiety in recent weeks at an average of 3 points out of 5.
Where 1 is the absence of anxiety, and 5 points is the constant presence of anxiety.
This is evidenced by the results of the UNICEF U-Report survey project with the Teenergizer organization, which helps young people take care of their health, conducted in September 2023.
To the question, how often during the last weeks have you felt excessive psychological anxiety or panic that you could not cope with, the survey participants answered (1 – never, 5 – constantly):
- 1 – 18%;
- 2 – 24%;
- 3 – 27%;
- 4 – 17%;
- 5 – 14%.

The youth answered as follows:
- 51% – occasionally or rarely experienced overwhelming anxiety;
- 21% – very often in recent weeks feel strong anxiety;
- 18% – feel good and are not under psychological pressure.
The authors of the study note that young people rated their level of indifference to things they were previously interested in at 3 points.
“From time to time, Ukrainian youth feel indifference to what used to bring pleasure”the researchers say.

When asked with whom young people would feel comfortable talking about stress and fatigue, 50% answered that with close friends.
The same number of respondents would like to talk about their condition with a psychologist or consultant, and another 30% said about their relatives.
As part of the study, young people were asked how often they seek psychological help when they are depressed, for which:
- 55% answered that they never ask for help;
- 32% apply for it, but rarely;
- 11% of respondents seek help often or constantly.
3,357 people took part in the survey.
