The head of the Department of Military Journalism of the Military Institute of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv (VIKNU) Hennadiy Nikolaychuk turned out to be an ex-candidate for the deputies of “Parties of Sharia”. This is stated in material “Media Detector” publication.

Nikolaychuk headed the Department of Military Journalism in November 2023. According to the publication, shortly after that, on December 8, he received the rank of colonel.

Journalists learned that during the 2019 parliamentary elections, Nikolaychuk ran for the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine from the “Sharia Party” under number 20.

During martial law, access to the materials of the Election Center is closed. Therefore, the publication turned to the public movement “CHESNO” and received a scan from the web archive, which confirms the candidacy of Gennady Nikolaychuk.

Then this political force from pro-Russian direction gained only 2.23% of the votes, which was not enough to pass to the Council. That is why Nikolaychuk returned to sports – he worked as the head of the international relations group of the Central Sports Club of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

“Media Detector” sources at VIKNU reported that the university’s management did not know about Gennady Nikolaychuk’s cooperation with the pro-Russian party.

The press service of the institute gave a short answer to the publication.

“We are currently reviewing this situation,” – noted there.

A representative of VIKNU in a comment for “UP. Life” reported that “now the position of the institute on this issue has not been worked out”.

According to open data, Gennady Nikolaychuk is a boxing master, vice-president of the Kyiv Boxing Federation and owner of the “Country of Sports” Charitable Foundation.

In 2017, he wrote a book about the trainer of the Klitschko brothers, Volodymyr Zolotaryov.

Who is Anatoly Shariy?

SBU last year reported about Sharia’s new suspicion regarding the blogger’s cooperation with the FSB. According to available information, he received a video of the interrogation of two captured soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which he edited, supplemented with his own comments and made public on his Internet platforms. These stories were later used by Russia to discredit the leadership of Ukraine, particularly on the international stage.
