The role of Apollo Creed in the first four Rocky films brought Weathers the greatest fame. He is also known for playing in the movie “Predator” with Arnold Schwarzenegger. Sylvester Stallone described Carl Weathers as an “integral part” of his life.
And Schwarzenegger wrote on social networks:
“Carl Weathers will always be a legend. An extraordinary athlete, a fantastic actor and a wonderful person. Without him, we would not have been able to create “Predator”. Every minute with him on and off the set was a real joy. I will miss him and my thoughts are with his family“.
According to the BBC, during his more than 50-year career in Hollywood, Weathers appeared in more than 75 films and TV shows.
In 2021, the actor was nominated for an Emmy Award for his role in the TV series The Mandalorian.
Weathers directed two episodes of Star Wars, as well as episodes of Law & Order and Doctors of Chicago.
He was also known for the films “Jackson Nicknamed the Motor”, “Close Encounters of the Third Kind”, “Eight Crazy Nights”, “Nikki the Devil Junior” and voice acting in the franchise “Toy Story”.
Adam Sandler paid tribute to the actor with the following words:
“A real great man. A wonderful father. A wonderful actor. A great athlete. He loved his sons above all else“.
