The Canadian Coast Guard rescued an American fisherman who disappeared in the ocean two weeks ago.

The man, along with another sailor, left Gray Harbor in Washington state on October 12 in a 13-meter boat, but then disappeared, the BBC and CTV News Vancouver reported.

He was alone on the raft for 13 days. To survive, the fisherman caught and ate salmon.

When the man was found by the crew of the Canadian fishing vessel “Ocean Sunset”, he was adrift in a life raft about 75 kilometers off the west coast of Vancouver.

“It’s a one in a million chance of finding a life raft in this vast open ocean”US Coast Guard Public Affairs Officer Steve Strohmeier said of the find.
