A golden denture belonging to the former Prime Minister of Great Britain Winston Churchill was sold at the auction.
The denture was sold for $22,000, although they hoped to get about $10,000 for it, Sky News writes. The auction was conducted by Cotswold Auction.
Dentures helped the politician deliver speeches and preserve the natural lisp that appeared in childhood. Churchill always kept a spare pair with him just in case.
It is believed that a total of up to four identical sets of prosthetics were made for the Prime Minister. One is buried with him.

These prostheses were designed by dentist Wilfred Fish when Churchill was 65 years old. They were made by technician Derek Cudlipp, who kept a spare pair in case of emergencies.
Together with the prosthesis, the microphone in which Churchill announced the end of the Second World War was put up for sale. It was valued at more than 14 thousand dollars.
It will be recalled that a 1963 Spider-Man comic was sold at an auction in the United States for almost $1.5 million.
