Ivan Franko’s great-grandson Yuriy Yurachkivskyi died in Kyiv on January 3, aged 72.

This was announced by the Ivan Franko National Literary and Memorial Museum in Lviv on social networks.

“It is with sadness that we announce that today the son of Zenovia-Rostislava Franko, the great-grandson of Ivan Franko, Yury Yurachkivskyi, passed away. The Frank House team expresses its sincere condolences to the relatives and friends of the deceased. We are sad with you.

May Mr. Yury’s soul rest in peace. Eternal memory to him”– says the message of “Dom Franko”.

We will remind, Yuriy Yurachkivskyi was born in 1951 and graduated from Ivan Franko Kyiv Secondary School No. 92.

He received his education at Taras Shevchenko Kyiv State University at the Faculty of Physics, worked as an engineer at the Institute of Gerontology, and later as a senior researcher at the Institute of Cybernetics of the Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. In 2001, as a scientist, he went to work in the USA, where he worked for 10 years.

Yuriy Yurachkivskyi was also the champion and winner of the Cup of Ukraine in bridge, and in 2003 he took second place at the New York Championship.
