Ecologists from the Ukrainian nature protection group initiated the creation of two national parks “Gromokliyskyi” and “Berezanskyi” in the Mykolaiv region. Their total area will reach more than 22 thousand hectares. A corresponding petition has already been submitted to the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine.

This was announced on the group’s website.

Ecologists say that the “Gromokliyskyi” park will cover the territory of Bashtanskyi, Mykolaivskyi and Voznesenskyi districts of the Mykolayiv region and the preserved steppe landscapes of the Gromokliya river basin and part of the right bank of the Ingul river valley.

“This territory is one of the most studied within the region, and the Gromoklia River basin is one of the most preserved basins of the North-Western Black Sea Coast. 23 species of local plant species are listed in the Red Book of Ukraine, 13 – in the regional red list of Mykolaiv Oblast, and 1 species – to Resolution 6 of the Berne Convention“, the activists say.

Also, more than 80 species of birds have been recorded in this area, and the herpetofauna, a collection of reptiles and amphibians, is represented by 12 species, most of them rare.

At the same time, “Berezansky” will cover the Berezansky estuary with its adjacent steppe slopes, the mouth of the small Beykul estuary and the steppes in the valleys of the Berezan and Sasyk rivers.

On this territory there are steppes, meadows, thickets of shrubs, sands, reservoirs, and salt marshes. A hairy heifer has been preserved here, listed in the Green Book of Ukraine. Also presented are the endemics tulip of the southern lilac, gorse of Scythia, minuartia of the southern lilac, etc.

“The projected national park includes 25 species of plants that are protected: 1 species is included in Resolution No. 6 of the Berne Convention, 15 species are included in the Red Book of Ukraine, and 8 species are included in the Red List of Mykolaiv Oblast.” – activists add.

In addition, this area has the largest local population of fragrant tulip in the Mykolaiv region, and in the Berezansky estuary there are red-billed beluga, sevryuga, Russian sturgeon, and European eel.

There are also 3 rare species of reptiles: yellow-bellied or Caspian, Sarmatian, green lizard. There are also many birds: from the curly pelican to the gogol.

Previously, we talked about the launch of a 24-hour stream from the bird’s nest in the national park in Poltava region.
