On the eve of St. Nicholas Day, the main Christmas tree was installed in Lviv. It was donated to the city by a local couple who grew the tree for 20 years.
This is reported by the Lviv City Council.
A 14-meter-tall Christmas tree will be installed on the square in front of the Lviv Opera House. She grew up on the faith of Yosyp and Halyna Panas, residents of the Belogorshch microdistrict.
According to them, the tree became too big for them, so they decided to donate it to the city.

“My husband brought this Christmas tree from the Carpathians about 20 years ago. It grew 14 meters from such a small sapling. We used to decorate it every year for Christmas, but over time it became impossible, because it has grown so much!” – says Halyna.
The city council emphasizes that cutting, transporting and installing a Christmas tree for the city is also free of charge. The crane and the tractor were provided by the entrepreneurs, and the utility companies are engaged in the installation.
The Christmas tree will be decorated with light illumination, which was purchased in 2018. An anti-tank “hedgehog” will be hung on the top instead of a star.
The main Christmas tree of Lviv will be lit on the eve of St. Nicholas Day, which this year will be celebrated on December 6.

“We are pleased to give such a gift and hope that Lviv residents will like it, and the lights that will burn on it will warm the thoughts that good will surely win.” – emphasizes Galina.
As a reminder, a Christmas tree will be installed in Kyiv on New Year’s Day, but no other entertainment is planned.
