Police officers searched for the schoolchildren for two hours in the same settlement, reports the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Vinnytsia Region. The children, who study in the 5th and 8th grade, explained that they did it for fun. “On the night of July 5, two students of the 5th and 8th grades damaged the school door, entered the director’s office and set his workplace on fire. In addition, the minors destroyed the furniture and equipment and fled. A pre-trial investigation has been launched into this fact,” the report says. Police and rescuers arrived at the scene. After extinguishing the fire, law enforcement officers discovered signs of arson. Schoolboy brothers set fire to the principal’s office. To search for the culprits, local police officers, operatives and investigators of the regional headquarters, dog handlers and forensic experts were involved. “Within two hours, the police established that two schoolboy brothers aged 10 and 13 were involved in the crime. No one was injured as a result of the fire. The extent of the damage is being determined,” said the law enforcement officers. The students of the 5th and 8th grades were searched for two hours. Investigators started criminal proceedings under part 2 of Art. 194 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (“Deliberate destruction or damage to property by arson”). This crime is punishable by imprisonment for up to ten years. However, since the children have not reached the age from which criminal responsibility arises, their parents will be responsible for them. Parents will be punished for the children.
