Found three violators: the language ombudsman checked the theaters’ pages

Out of 97 sites of theaters and philharmonics in Ukraine, only three institutions violate the language law.
This was reported on the page of the Commissioner for the Protection of the State Language.
In total, there are 112 communal and state-owned theaters and philharmonic halls in Ukraine, but the sites of 97 institutions operate out of them.
They created 264 pages on Instagram, Twitter(X), Facebook, TikTok, Viber, Telegram, and YouTube.

The Commissioner’s office analyzed all the information that theaters published during 2023.
Only one site provides information exclusively in a non-state language. This is the Communal Cultural Institution “Dnipro City Theater “KVN DSU”.
The ombudsman’s office notes that the page is loaded in Russian, but the site is currently down.
The second violator is the Khmelnytskyi city monotheater “Kut”, whose website is loaded in English.
The third case is the “Transcarpathian Regional Hungarian Drama Theater” KZ, which uses exclusively the Hungarian language.
“The recorded violations are isolated in nature. I hope that within a month those theaters in which violations of the Language Law were recorded will correct the situation and ensure the right of citizens to receive information and services in the state language“, said Taras Kremin.
As a reminder, since the beginning of 2023, the office of the ombudsman has recorded about 3,000 complaints about violations of the language law. Online stores and websites are the most common offenders.
