The Ministry of Culture and Information Policy added four new elements to the list of the National Intangible Cultural Heritage of Ukraine.

In accordance with the order, the National List was supplemented with the following items:

  • traditions of preparation and consumption of porridge Cuckoos in Vinnytsia;
  • the tradition of making grout in the village of Kryva Luka in Donetsk region;
  • the coffee tradition of the Crimean Tatars;
  • Crimean Tatar dance Agyr ava ve Khaitarma.

The agency emphasized that communities should heed the recommendations and proposals of the Expert Council on Intangible Cultural Heritage under the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine in order to preserve these elements.

The Ministry of Culture did not clarify whether these traditions are under threat due to Russian aggression.

As you know, the National List of Elements of Intangible Cultural Heritage is maintained to fulfill Article 12 of the UNESCO Convention. New elements are included in the list on the basis of the recommendations of the Expert Council on Intangible Cultural Heritage, which operates under the ICIP.

The list of other objects of the national intangible heritage can be found here.
