Animals saved from the war were shown in the Kyiv zoo – in particular, a group of 4 servals, which were taken from the city of Kurakhove, which is near Maryinka in Donetsk region.

Animals were evacuated from under fire by zoo activists, the Kyiv Zoological Park of National Importance reports.

Servals are a predatory African mammal from the cat family.

The animals arrived at the Kyiv zoo in poor condition, the institution says.

“Sick, exhausted and in a state of severe stress. Our veterinarians and zoologists have taken immediate measures for treatment and recovery,” – added in the zoo.

After 2 months, the first pair of servals – Osiris and Sekhmet – began the next stage of rehabilitation and socialization already in their own enclosure.

Animals were transferred to the capital zoo by animal volunteers

We’ve created an African tree with climbing frames and claws, 2 hammocks and a cozy loft to relax in, a fountain to cheer up, three types of soil and a stone rock to walk and jump on and lots of different toys and pillows“, the Zoo reports.

A pair of servals was settled in a separate enclosure only after two months in a new place

In addition, 3 types of lighting are installed in the aviary: solar-day, twilight-infrared and night moonlight

Currently, the four “kittens” continue their socialization under the supervision of veterinarians

We previously reported that an animal caretaker died: 30 cats, 6 dogs, 2 chickens and a duck were rescued from a deserted island in Poltava region.
