Free treatment and further rehabilitation for babies: the list of services was named in the NHSHU

Babies who were born prematurely or with severe pathologies have the opportunity to receive free medical care within the framework of the Medical Guarantee Program.

For those who need further support, a package of free assistance is also provided, the National Health Service of Ukraine said.

“Medical rehabilitation of children up to three years old who were born prematurely or sick is free of charge in all medical institutions of Ukraine that have a contract with the National Health Service“, – say the doctors.

According to them, there are 128 such hospitals in Ukraine. Most of them are in the capital, Dnipropetrovsk and Lviv regions.

The child’s parents can apply to any medical facilitywhere there is an agreement with the NSZU in this direction, regardless of registration for further rehabilitation.

Which services are free for babies:

• rehabilitation

We are talking about the initial examination and the consultation of a specialist. also about making a diagnosis and forming an individual program and providing the services themselves.

Receiving assistance does not depend on the child’s place of residence;

• laboratory studies

This is a detailed and biochemical blood test, urine test and others prescribed by the doctor.

It is also possible to examine the internal organs of the baby with the help of various mechanical devices;

• consultation of various specialists according to the child’s condition;
• special screening (primary examination) to identify autistic disorders;
• nutrition of the child in the hospital;
• selection and adaptation of special equipment and means of alternative communication (gestures, facial expressions, touch, etc.) for the baby.

What parents or guardians of young patients receive:

• psychological support;
• training in child care and development. Also about prevention of possible complications and compliance with recommendations at all stages of assistance;
• teaching how to use special equipment for a child and means of alternative communication in a natural environment;
• the opportunity to choose a medical institution for the child’s rehabilitation.

Rehabilitation of babies who were born prematurely or sick during the first three years of life is free of charge in several cases:

• on the referral of the primary care physician with whom the declaration was made;
• under the direction of the attending physician;
• if transferred from another medical institution or suspicious hospital.

We remind you that premature babies are those who were born before the 37th week of pregnancy, weighing less than 2.5 kilograms.
