From July 1, drugs under the “Affordable Medicines” program must again be dispensed exclusively by electronic prescription. The norm applies to the entire territory of Ukraine, except for the occupied, front-line regions and those where active hostilities are taking place. In addition, at the patient’s request, the doctor will be able to print a certificate containing information about the prescription, reports the Ministry of Health. “Affordable medicines” is a government program that ensures full or partial payment of the cost of some medicines from budget funds,” the department reminds. The change was introduced with the aim of unhindered access to vital medicines. The Ministry of Health noted that at the beginning of 2023, more than 1.5 million Ukrainians received “Affordable medicines” using an electronic prescription . These are mainly patients who need outpatient treatment due to various diseases: cardiovascular diseases; diabetes and insipidus; bronchial asthma; mental and behavioral disorders; epilepsy. From March 2022 to June 2023, 14 were repaid under the “Affordable Medicines” program million electronic prescriptions, the ministry added. “Over the past 30 days alone, more than 50,000 patients received an electronic prescription for the first time,” the Ministry of Health concluded. In Ukraine, the “Affordable Medicines” program continues to operate, according to which Ukrainians can receive drugs free of charge or with a small surcharge.
