He drank water for three days: a tourist from California miraculously survived after falling from a height of 300 meters

A tourist from California fell from a height of about 305 meters from a mountain range in Hawaii. The man called his rescue a “miracle”, because he managed to survive the fall and wait for the rescuers.
34-year-old Ian Snyder went on a hike alone on December 4. That day he fell off the trail from the top of the Koolau Range. Honolulu rescuers found him three days later, on December 7, at the foot of the falls, CNN writes.
Snyder said that he walked up a steep slope that day, the hike became more and more dangerous, but he continued his journey.
“I was in good shape and could navigate the terrain well– says Snyder.

The man does not remember the moment of his fall.
“When I regained consciousness, I had no idea what had happened and how much time had passed. I was unconscious all this time“, the man says.
Snyder recalls that when he woke up, he was cold and he was near a waterfall. His arm was broken, he struggled to get closer to the water and hid from the wind between two rocks. To survive, the traveler drank water from the waterfall for three days.
“I really wanted to live, so I didn’t waste my time”he says.
On Dec. 7, the Honolulu Fire Department received a call from the Honolulu Police Department requesting assistance in locating a missing person.
On the day of his rescue, Snyder woke up to the sound of planes “flying very low.”
Rescuers spotted the missing traveler at the foot of the waterfall and took him to a safe place.
“He waved his hand to get our attention”,” adds Honolulu Fire Department Capt. Adrian Carvalho.
In addition to a broken arm, Snyder had a chest injury, puncture wounds on his legs, and his right eye was swollen.
“Hopefully I’ll be back to normal in a few weeks“, says Snyder.
