In Kharkiv, a swindler tried to swindle the wife of a fallen soldier of the Armed Forces of USD 10,000.
For this, the man faces up to eight years in prison, the press service of the SBU reports.
According to the department, the soldier died in the so-called gray zone, so his body has not yet been handed over to his relatives.
After learning about this, the swindler began posing as an employee of the SBU and convincing the woman that her husband was allegedly being held captive by the Russian occupiers.

For 10,000 dollars, a Kharkiv man promised to “return” a soldier home.
“The attacker “guaranteed” his victim that he would put the name of the allegedly captured soldier on the list for “priority” exchange“, the SBU notes.
Law enforcement officers detained the fraudster while receiving money from the victim.

During the search, a mobile phone with evidence of illegal activity was seized from him.
The man was charged with fraud under Part 4 of Art. 190 KKU.
He faces up to eight years in prison.
Currently, the law enforcement officers are solving the issue of selecting a preventive measure for the suspect – detention.
