The wounded could not be evacuated for a long time due to shelling. The tourniquets stayed on Oleg’s legs for eight hours, the body tissues began to die. Doctors at the headquarters had to amputate the limbs, the center says.

Oleg was taken to the Lviv hospital in an extremely serious condition

Subsequently, doctors from Dnipro, Kyiv and Lviv continued to save the defender’s life.

Oleg was taken to the Lviv hospital in an extremely serious condition. His condition was complicated by a multi-resistant bacterial infection that did not respond to antibiotic therapy. He spent ten days in intensive care.

The infection greatly affected the work of the lungs and kidneys. Oleg underwent a hemodialysis procedure in Dnipro. When he came to us, the work of internal organs was supported by devices.

First we had to fight the infection. And when we succeeded, we closed the soft tissue defects that arose after the amputation of the limbs.”says surgeon Maryan Kuzmak.
