In Ukraine, heart attacks and strokes are “getting younger”, in particular, due to the low coverage of Ukrainians by programs for the early detection of cardiovascular diseases.
This was stated by the Minister of Health of Ukraine, Viktor Lyashko, during a speech at the All-Ukrainian Congress of Cardiovascular Surgeons in Kyiv, Ukrinform reports.
“At a recent meeting on the prevalence of cardiovascular diseases, experts emphasized that strokes and heart attacks in Ukraine are getting younger.”
We should define the three most important priorities in the provision of medical care to patients with cardiovascular diseases – accessibility, quality and free of charge.” said the minister.

The pandemic and the great war had a negative impact on the indicators of early detection of diseases – prevention took a back seat.
The Ministry of Health is concerned that, due to the lack of prevention, complex diseases in the population may be detected more often already at advanced stages.
According to the Ministry of Health, more than 400,000 Ukrainians die from cardiovascular diseases every year.
