Hollywood actors were offered to sell their AI copies – forever

The Alliance of Producers of the United States suggested that supporting actors sell their digital copies to movie studios for perpetual use. This was announced by the combined trade union of the Screen Actors Guild of the USA and the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists, which began the strike at midnight.

Earlier, the Producers Alliance, which represents the interests of major film studios and streaming platforms, including Amazon, Disney, Netflix, Paramount and Warner Bros. Discovery, said it had made a “groundbreaking proposal for artificial intelligence that protects their digital copies” to the actors’ union.

The proposal was to “scan the extras and use their AI-copies in any project, without their consent or compensation,” said the union’s chief negotiator, Duncan Crabtree-Island. In exchange, the actors would receive a salary per day of scanning. “If you think this is an innovative proposal, I suggest you think again,” he said.

After the breakdown of negotiations, at midnight on July 14, the actors’ union, which unites about 160 thousand members – from big stars to actors of the second plan, joined the screenwriters’ strike, which began back in May. All of them demand an increase in the basic salary and deduction from repeated showings of the pictures, as well as guarantees that their work will not be replaced by artificial intelligence.

A joint strike of screenwriters and actors, which Hollywood has not faced since 1960, will lead to the disruption of the production of dozens of shows and films – both in the United States and abroad, writes the Reuters agency.
