Holodomor Remembrance Day: Ukrainians are encouraged to light a candle in their window

Traditionally, every fourth Saturday of November in Ukraine honors the victims of the Holodomor of 1932-33. This year, this date falls on November 25.
Ukrainians are urged to join the All-Ukrainian commemorative action “Light a candle”: on November 25 at 4:00 p.m., put a candle near the window, and also join the Nationwide minute of silence.
As reported by the Ukrainian Institute of National Remembrance, this year the symbol of the event commemorating the victims of the Holodomor was a trench candle, because a living fire is a symbol of memory, warmth and hope.
“Hope that we will have the strength to resist and win. Because we are a warrior people. Holodomor Memorial Day. Light a memorial candle for those killed by hunger. Send warmth, stand next to those who are currently fighting for more this never happened”– the UINP notes.

On the Day of Remembrance of Holodomor Victims, the Institute of National Remembrance initiated the campaign “Remember the victims of the Holodomor. Support those who fight for Ukraine.” There they call on Ukrainians to warm themselves with their warmth and support those who are now confronting the enemy on the front lines.
“Donate the ammunition, equipment and equipment that the soldiers need now to the volunteers we know. Find the address of the nearest volunteer centers and help with weaving camouflage nets or making trench candles. Pass children’s letters and drawings, souvenirs-talismans, goodies and our faith in them with the volunteers . Let our memory become effective.” – they say in the institute.
