The National Health Service of Ukraine will not sign contracts with hospitals without air conditioners in the wards. Currently, out of more than 54,000 wards in hospitals of the capable network, less than 7,000 institutions have air conditioners, the Ministry of Health reported. “Air conditioners are installed in only 12% of the wards. The Ministry of Health helps hospitals both with attracting funds for reconstruction and with expensive equipment. Providing comfortable conditions of stay directly in the wards is something that the institutions themselves are financially capable of,” says the Minister of Health. I am Viktor Lyashko. It is about a comfortable stay in hospitals for both patients and doctors, so the wards and residents’ rooms should be equipped with air conditioners. Photo: Naypong/Depositphotos He recalled that in 2022, one of the requirements for hospitals was the availability of a backup power source. Thus, more than 4 thousand generators were accumulated in the medical system, thanks to which it was possible to survive the winter despite numerous enemy attacks on the energy infrastructure of Ukraine. “However, medical institutions with a capable network must be prepared not only for challenges of cold, but also for challenges of heat,” the Ministry of Health explains. The department adds that hospitals that will not be able to provide wards with air conditioners in accordance with the requirements will lose the opportunity to sign contracts with NSZU for certain packages as early as January 1, 2024. We remind you that the list of services from NSZU is quite extensive. So, for example, you can undergo hormonal tests if you receive a referral from a family doctor.
