Ukrainians who are temporarily forced to live abroad, in particular, in the countries of the European Union, can use their driver’s license. The document can be used during the entire period of stay abroad, said Dmytro Lubinets, the Commissioner for Human Rights of the Verkhovna Rada. According to him, in the EU countries, Ukrainians can use new or old driver’s licenses without restrictions on their validity period. “It is not necessary to have a translation of your driver’s license and an international driver’s license, but there must always be a document that confirms your identity,” the ombudsman noted. In case of loss of the document, Ukrainian drivers can obtain a temporary EU-type driver’s license for the period of living abroad without passing exams. In the case of a change in personal data or a serious damage to the document, drivers can exchange their driver’s license abroad at the branches of State Enterprise “Dokument”, which are available in a number of cities, in particular, in Poland, Turkey, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Germany and Spain. The addresses of the branches can be found at the link. As a reminder, starting in 2023, in Ukraine, preparation at a driving school and passing exams will take place according to a new algorithm.
