Minister of Education and Science Oksen Lisovyi commented on the scandal with the employee of the Ministry of Education and Culture Andriy Vasylenko, who mocked the independence of Ukraine and the Baltic countries, and also questioned the desire of Ukrainians to leave the USSR in the early 1990s. The minister called his behavior “shameful”. He told about this in an interview with “Suspilny”. “I don’t know what kind of confusion one must have in one’s head in order not to understand elementary things with so many sources. Is this a victim of propaganda?” Lisovyi said, adding that “I don’t understand how a young person can think like that.” According to the minister, after the scandal, Andrii Vasylenko was offered to write a resignation letter, but he refused. Photo from Facebook As a reminder, on August 24, Andriy Vasylenko published a post in which he hinted that independence did not benefit all former USSR countries. He called the independence of Ukraine a “throwaway” and criticized the leaflets that campaigned to vote for independence on December 1, 1991. He also criticized the independence of the Baltic states, calling Vilnius a “hole” and Lithuanian cuisine “crap”. “In one and the same year, one and the same wise people overwhelmingly voted for mutually exclusive paragraphs (to keep the USSR with the Ukrainian SSR as part of it, and to declare independence). Apparently, the amazingly wise people did not understand what they were doing. How has this wonderful goal been achieved?” – wrote an employee of the Ministry of Education and Culture. The ministry issued an order to initiate disciplinary proceedings against civil servant Andrii Vasylenko. Disciplinary proceedings have been initiated.
