In Ivano-Frankivsk, the driver of a car killed a dog and fled the scene. Later, the offender was found by local residents, but he refused to help treat the animal while it was still alive. After the beating, the Kangaroo dog had a dislocated pelvis, a ruptured lung, numerous injuries and internal hematomas, according to the charity organization UAnimals. They tried to resuscitate the dog, but in vain. The kangaroo died. According to local residents, the animal lived near the city lake in Ivano-Frankivsk for about 4 years together with a four-legged friend named Beams. Kangaroo dog. That’s how we became friends: they constantly came to the cafe, we made kennels for them”, – they write in UAnimals. The animals went with the Kherson people to the post office and for walks, waited at the door of the institution, and then accompanied them home. The couple remembers that Kangaroo often slept sitting up – it was very funny, and visitors to the cafe liked to take pictures of her. She had funny big ears that immediately attracted attention. On the day of the tragedy, Konstantin and Polina heard loud screeching, and one of their customers reported that the driver of a black Volkswagen Touareg ran over a dog, did not stop and ran away. The couple ran outside and saw Kangaroo lying on the ground. A nervous Beams ran around her. A kangaroo near a favorite coffee shop. UAnimals emphasized that Konstantin has already submitted a statement and all materials from surveillance cameras, as well as documents from the veterinary clinic to the police. As Kostyantyn Dudchenko told, the law enforcement officers informed that they will prepare all the data, the driver will be warned, if he does not show up at the station, he will be wanted, because they have his car’s license plates. He added that the driver was given a chance to correct the mistake when the animal was alive and was still taken to the vet clinic. There, the doctors drew up a care and treatment plan, the cost of which was approximately 30,000 hryvnias. According to Kostyantyn, it was then possible to contact the driver, he was offered to pay for the service and help with the care of Kangaroo. However, the driver refused, because it is a “yard dog”. “If the driver had really hit the animal unintentionally, taken it to a vet clinic that was nearby, or helped with treatment, no one would have contacted the law enforcement agencies,” the Kherson resident emphasized. The charitable organization also submitted a statement regarding animal cruelty. UAnimals noted that the killer of Kangaroo faces from 5 to 8 years of imprisonment (Part 3 of Article 99 of the Criminal Code). “We are ready to fight for justice and for the punishment of the guilty for the sake of her memory and for the sake of the people who love her,” UAnimals added. Kangaroo was buried on a private plot in Ivano-Frankivsk. We will remind you that in Rivne, a man shot her cat in front of the owner.
