In Khmelnych region, a man beat his stepson with a metal rod: the boy’s jaw was broken

A man was arrested in the Kamianets-Podilsky district of Khmelnytskyi region for beating his 12-year-old stepson with a metal rod.

The boy was found to have multiple fractures, the police of the Khmelnytskyi region reported.

According to law enforcement officers, the conflict between a 41-year-old man and the son of his roommate arose in the evening of January 11. During it, the man grabbed a metal rod and began to beat the boy with it.

According to the police, the teenager was able to run out of the house to the street, where at that time a patrol police crew was passing by. The boy turned to them for help.

“During the examination, the doctors found numerous fractures and bruises on the boy’s various parts of the body. The severity of the injuries was assessed by the doctors as serious”the police say.

The man was detained. He will be tried under the article on the task of intentional grievous bodily harm (Part 1 of Article 121 of the Criminal Code).

For what he committed, he faces up to 8 years in prison.

In a comment to “UP. Life”, the spokeswoman of the Khmelnytskyi regional prosecutor’s office, Maryna Tysyachna, said that the boy’s mother was at work during the incident.

According to her, the victim has been transferred from the intensive care unit to a regular ward, his condition is stable.

“During the conflict, the man broke the boy’s jaw. It is known that the man lived with his family for about three months. The woman also has an 8-year-old son.” – added the spokeswoman.
