In Kyiv, dogs may be allowed to be transported in the subway: what is known

The Transport Commission of the Kyiv City Council supported the petition for permission to transport dogs in the subway. However, a delay was requested for its implementation.

This was reported by the public organization “Passengers of Kyiv”.

The director of the capital metro, Viktor Braginskyi, noted that the subway ensures the safety of people, in particular with pets, during alarms.

Therefore, according to him, the metro supports this proposal, but requests a delay in its implementation in order to discuss the initiative with public organizations and dog breeders.

“Since consideration of petitions does not provide for their postponement, it should be implemented by the Department of Transport Infrastructure of the KMDA in the planned order,” said the message of the “Passengers of Kyiv” NGO.

We will remind you that on February 6, a petition appeared on the website of the Kyiv City Council calling for dogs to be allowed to travel in the subway under the conditions of compliance with safety and sanitary standards for other passengers. And already on February 20, this petition gained the required number of votes.

On social networks, many people supported the request and told their stories about the difficulties of transporting dogs.

According to current rules, only birds and small animals in cages, as well as guide dogs, can be transported in the Kyiv metro.

They must have a collar, a muzzle, a special license and undergo training in the conditions of the metro.
