In South Korea, a robot killed a man, mistaking him for a box of vegetables

In South Korea, a human was crushed by a packing robot at a vegetable sorting plant.
According to the South Korean news agency Yonhap, the robot mistook a man for a box of vegetables, the BBC and The Guardian write.
A 40-year-old worker at a robotics company was checking the robot’s sensors at an agricultural distribution center in South Gyeongsang Province.
However, the robot that lifted the boxes of bell peppers and placed them on the pallet appeared to have malfunctioned and mistook the man for the box.

A robotic arm pinned the man against the conveyor belt, crushing his face and chest.
The victim was taken to the hospital, but unfortunately he died.
Accidents involving robots have occurred in South Korea before.
In March, a 50-year-old Korean man was seriously injured after being trapped by a robot while working at an auto parts factory.
