The department also added that the neighbors complained that the owners keep the fighting dog on the balcony all the time, even in the heat. Law enforcement officers of the Buchansk police department of the Kyiv Region have started a pre-trial investigation into the fact of animal cruelty (Part 1, Article 299 of the Criminal Code). Vasyl Khoroshkovskyi and Artem Timofeev, police officers, seized the pit bull from the owners. Currently, Gerda is temporarily accommodated in the shelter of the “In Good Hands” organization. The head of the organization, Kateryna, informed the UP. Life, that at the moment everything is fine with the animal. Gerda is being cared for, fed and vaccinated while awaiting the court’s decision. “The court can return the dog to the owner – we then simply return it, or remove it forever – and it will remain in the shelter,” she added.
